Happy Birthday to Krishna!

Krishna Janmashtami or Gokulashtami, is an important festival that celebrates the birth of Lord Krishna — the eighth avatar of Vishnu. While the dates may vary on a region-to-region basis, the festival will largely be celebrated on August 24 (Saturday) this year. And in some places, due to their celebration tradition, it’s being celebrated on 23rd of August.

It is 5246th birthday of Supreme personality of Godhead. For fasting on this day, our spiritual teacher suggests that 23th of August would be the best day, specially for Householder. This is because on the midnight of 23rd August, when date alters after 11:59 PM, the Lord takes birth and fast is kept before his birth. That’s why it’s being celebrated on 24th of August 2019.

On this day, at the stroke of midnight, Krishna was born in a dungeon in Mathura where his parents were imprisoned. Owing a threat to his life, he was swiftly and surreptitiously taken to Gokul to be raised by his foster parents. Recommendations:

Do not hurt anyone by any means, either physically or mentally.
If possible, visit temples of Radhakrishna to receive Lord’s blessings.
Chant some mantras in mind like HareKrishna or RadheKrishna the whole day. Along with this, you can also listen bhajans and songs of him.
Dedicate these two days to Krishna only.
Watch some live rituals and worshipping videos of Lord Krishna in TV or YouTube.
Krishna hasn’t demanded for anything so you can offer him anything but with true mind. In fact few drops of your tears would be the best to receive blessings of the Lord.
If you can’t perform worship, don’t worry, just chant his holy name. This is all equal to those who worship with some traditional staffs.
